Job Summary

Graphic design is an incredibly influential part of advanced video production, adding a professional polish, a creative flair and pushing production to the next level. It is also a crucial part of creating advertisments, sales collateral, establishing an effective social media presence and designing websites that are both functional and breathtaking. As Vanilla Video continues to grow, we seek talented Graphic Designers.

Graphic Designers at Vanilla Video (either working with us remotely or locally in Chicago) will create visual content and presentations to accompany select video projects by designing art and copy layouts. Applicants must be familiar with and preferably be fluent in using Adobe Creative Suite. This is where all of our text and image content is created and combined with our video production. The Graphic Designer will be responsible for working with clients to create content suited to their needs. The Graphic Designer will also be responsible for creating content for Vanilla Video as a part of branding and building the company. For this aspect of the job, Graphic Design will collaborate with Social Media and Marketing.

Key Qualifications

Position Description

As a Graphic Designer at Vanilla Video, you will be the go-to resource for graphic creation and content. You will need to be creative, efficient and able to address client needs. Thick skin is a must. This position will expose you to a large amount of criticism from team members, clients and customers. This can come during ideation sessions or further down the line of production. More often than not, you will be pushed to improve upon your initial designs and address specific revisions. Our goal is always to deliver our best work possible on any given project.

Vanilla Video relies on the Adobe Creative Suite for all of our productions. You knowledge of and proficiency with Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator (to name a few) will be put to the test on a daily basis. As part of the creative team, you’ll be working with Staff Writers, Animation Artists, Storyboard Artists, Junior and Senior Editors and Creative Directors.

Responsibilities & Duties

As a Graphic Designer at Vanilla Video, you will be encouraged to schedule your own hours. However, you will be required to be in-office for any team meetings and when important projects you’re working on are due. The more advanced videos Vanilla produces are typically deadline driven team efforts.

You will be responsible for creating on screen text, video bumpers, developing company logos, assisting with custom video graphics and layouts, generating website graphics and building internal guides and marketing materials.

Vanilla Video prefers to promote from within. A position as a Graphic Designer typically leads roles like Creative Director or Operations Manager.
