The VP of Sales interacts with every customer, either through helping them build an order right from the start, or reviewing customers’ orders as they come in through the online order form. The VP of Sales determines customers’ needs, ensures the video they order will satisfy those needs, and assigns team members to every part of the process for each job. The VP of Sales oversees orders and ensures they are delivered smoothly and in a timely fashion.

Description

The VP of Sales at Vanilla Video serves as the first point of contact for customers who are interested in purchasing a Vanilla Video. The VP of Sales to help customers figure out what they need and build an order that will satisfy them, without pressure or unnecessary upselling. Since our website works as a sales force on its own, the VP of Sales steps in to catch sales that might otherwise have been lost.

In addition to educating potential customers, the VP of Sales reviews all orders that come in via our online order form. In this review process, you ensure that customers purchases match their needs. If necessary you reach out and help them revise their order into something that will work for them.

The VP of Sales educates customers and brings them from clueless to ready to go with an approved order. Once orders are approved, the VP of Sales shifts gears to assign videographers and editors to an order. Familiar with the strengths and weaknesses of everyone on the team, the VP of Sales understands when a videographer or editor might need additional help or training prior to beginning work on an order. At this point, VP of Sales communicates these needs to Senior Videographers, Creative Directors, or an Operations Managers to ensure that everyone working on a project is capable and confident.

Responsibilities & Duties

The head of the videographers and editors, the VP of Sales ensures customers order correctly and then assigns work to creative directors, videographers and editors. These are the primary duties of the VP of Sales, and it is important that they are executed strategically. Helping customers order what they need, rather than what they think they need ensures they will be happy with their delivered video. Assigning the right videographers to each job makes sure everyone has a week full of work and is doing work that they are capable of.

Though speaking with customers is a large portion of this role, the VP of Sales is not a glorified customer service representative. The VP of Sales is responsible for closing sales and making customers feel good about what they are buying. You work with customers and show them that Vanilla Video satisfies their needs, better than anyone else can. Not every customer that comes to Vanilla Video is familiar with video production or how it all works. The VP of Sales helps them understand what they need and what is included in what they are buying. Oftentimes, they come to the table unsure and had the VP of Sales not stepped in to assist with their order, they would not have been happy with the results of their Vanilla Video.

Vanilla Video’s website includes an online ordering system – we are the first and only video production company with this feature. In a perfect world, customers could order a videographer on demand, but we are not there yet. The VP of Sales is required to go through every order and make sure adjustments do not need to be made. This is where reaching out to customers is required. At this stage – the VP leaves the picture of the order, and allows the rest of the production staff to perform their magic.

The VP of Sales is required to work with members of upper management and play a role in growing Vanilla Video’s business. Dealing so closely with customers allows the VP of Sales to gain insights on how customers buy video and what they expect when they begin the process. The VP of Sales becomes aware of trends or changes among customers before anyone else does. Together the upper management team uses this information to strategize next steps for Vanilla Video.
